Holiday Club.

Community has always been very important to us at Spring Community Hub, which is why we are excited to launch our initiative to help  vulnerable people achieve the basics that we all need to survive.

Our team have managed a Foodbank for seven years and been involved in other community projects at various levels. During our time we have noticed how the people who rely on them are, more often than not, in need through no fault of their own and are merely victims of circumstance.

Our newest venture is to open a community hub, including a food bank, that will give people in need a place to visit that will help them receive some basic care provisions and give them the means to improve their own situations.

Over the last seven years, we have gained a wealth of experience by speaking to service users and familiarising ourselves with their different situations. This has allowed us to develop strategies to best help vulnerable people, experiencing food poverty and address the underlying causes of their situations.

Service users will be provided with food parcels for the family, fresh food and tailored to their cultural/religious/dietary needs, where possible along with contact with advisors who will discuss the issues that have brought them to us. We will aim to offer advice on how to source food more cheaply and cook meals for less.

We will also run a Holiday Club which will aim to provide Holiday learning, food and play for families who need it most. Our objectives for the project will be to improve social inclusion, nutrition and wellbeing. Also assist in reducing financial and emotional pressure on the families who attend our holiday clubs.

Our hub will be a place where people can relax away from the stresses of living in the world today, with our creative and social sessions while receiving the food and support they need to stay healthy. We will guide them in learning what benefits are available to them, with £16. 6 b in benefits not being claimed every year. We will also provide employment support.

We will be opening up our services in other local areas, and working in partnership with other organisations, in order to meet the needs of the people in that community.

By creating such a supportive community, we can break down barriers that exist and reduce the feeling of isolation, food poverty and minimise food waste.
